Lent 1 10 March 2019
Readings: Deuteronomy 26:1-11; Luke 4:1-13
Collect: Almighty God, whose Son fasted forty days in the wilderness, and was tempted as we are, yet did not sin: give us grace to discipline ourselves in submission to your Spirit, that, as you know our weakness, so we may know your power to save; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.
Post Communion: Almighty God, you hate nothing you have made and forgive the sins of all who are penitent: create in us a clean heart; that, in lamenting our sinfulness, we may receive from you, the God of all mercy, forgiveness and perfect peace; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end.
Matins Collect: O Lord, who for our sake didst fast forty days and forty nights: Give us grace to use such abstinence, that, our flesh being subdued to the Spirit, we may ever obey thy godly motions in righteousness and true holiness, to thy honour and glory; who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end.
